OK I know this is a teenage series of books - and no I have not seen the movie, but seriously these are some good books. I have even got my sister, niece, and sister in law reading them.
I was not even interested when I seen the movie come out and had never heard of the books until one of Jake's friends was at the house and her and her boyfriend had went to see the movie. She was telling me how good the movie was and I got interested in reading the book.
I got on our local library list and the waiting list was a mile long! So I thought these must be a pretty good series of books. I ordered the first book Twilight from Amazon and was hooked. I got the complete set for Christmas four books total.
These aren't your run of the mill vampire books. Not gory and gross, but more of a romance book with suspense and drama. I have read the first 2 books in the series and am working on the 3rd with the 4th laying on the nightstand waiting for me lol.
Here is the plot summary from Wikipedia
Isabella "Bella" Swan moves from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington to live with her father, Charlie. She chooses to do this so that her mother, Renée, can travel with her new husband, Phil Dwyer, who is a minor league baseball player. Bella attracts much attention at her new school and is quickly befriended by several students. Much to her dismay, several boys in the school compete for shy Bella's attention.
When Bella sits next to Edward Cullen in class on her first day of school, Edward seems utterly repulsed by her. After tricking a family friend, Jacob Black, into telling her local tribal legends, Bella concludes that Edward and his family are vampires who drink the blood of animals, not humans. Edward reveals that he initially avoided Bella because the scent of her blood was so desirable to him. Over time, Edward and Bella fall in love.
Their relationship is thrown into chaos when another vampire coven sweeps into Forks and James, a tracker vampire, decides that he wants to hunt Bella for sport. The Cullens plan to distract the tracker by splitting up Bella and Edward, and Bella is sent to hide in a hotel in Phoenix. Bella then gets a phone call from James in which he says that he has her mother, and that Bella must give herself up to save her. She does so and James attacks her, but Edward, along with the rest of the Cullen family, rescues Bella before James can kill her. Once they realize that James has bitten Bella's hand, Edward sucks the venom out of her system before it can spread and change her into a vampire. Upon returning to Forks, Bella and Edward attend their prom and Bella expresses her desire to become a vampire, which Edward refuses to let happen.

I wasn't interested in these books at all, either, but everyone kept telling me I HAD to read them. I finally decided to read Twilight so I'd know what my friends were talking about. Now I'm hooked--I'm on Eclipse, the third book, and they've all been hard to put down!
I know exactly what you mean Julia - they are addicting!! I am on Eclipse also about mid ways through the book.
Thanks Lib!
I have heard so much about these books. I will have to see if I can get them. I have some other vampire romances I like, so I'll probably love these too!
Yes they are so addicting. I am on New Moon right now, I just wish I had more time to read!
My daughter has and has read them all. I read the first one (to see what all the hype was about) but haven't read the rest yet. She is a real 'twihard'.
My teens have mentioned these books, haven't yet asked for them, but I expect them to lol!
Enjoy :)

Ok now I need to read this series! I knew these books were mega popular, but knew nothing about them. Gotta add to my list of "to read".
