Here is some flat picking for your Monday Morning

Here is my son Jake and flat picking at the Vandalia Gathering 2009 in Charleston WV this past weekend.

We are very proud of him. He won the youth flat picking at Vandalia in 07 and 08. He competed with the adults this year- he didn't place- but we are still so proud!

Musical ability?? His grandmother sings and plays bass guitar. His Dad played trumpet and auto harp. Me - I like to sing( in the car, at home)- not too sure if anyone else likes me to sing. But hubby and the boys never complain, so that's a good sign I think. lol

Outstanding flat top playing!! I come from a family of pickers-and your son is fantastic. Did he write the tune-I've never heard it?

Lovely video! I wish I'd had a chance to hear him. There is nothing quite like hearing all the young people play, knowing that an important tradition is being passed down and kept alive.
