Monday Musings

Well the temps are still freezing here in WV, but at least we didn't get all the snow our neighbors in Va got. Still I am thinking about spring and gardening time. I ordered a lot of my seeds this past weekend. I had the pleasure of having the weekend to myself. Thane, Jake and Wyatt went to Springfield Va to a recording studio - Levi and Luke went to a hunting show with my brother and sister in law- and I had a quiet weekend alone! ALONE - as in no kids fighting, the tv all to myself, captain crunch for supper alone. Oh yeah and a box of 50% off Valentine chocolates that I had hid in my closet for just such an occasion lol.

So anywho - I sat down and ordered my garden seeds and now have a severe case of spring fever.

What are you going to plant this year?

Onions, tomatoes, beans, crook necks, peppers...these are in and growing now!
One and only good thing about the deep south!

Tomatoes, peppers, beans and peas. I have trouble getting to harvest for lots of veggies due to our short growing season. So I'm starting more indoors a little earlier this year and hoping I actually get some peppers this year! (It's my third year trying them. First from seeds, then from seedlings from a nursery, third time's a charm right?)

We are trying to start some seeds for the first time starting with peas. We're also trying to get a sweet potato started. Brent's grandma starts our tomatos from seeds she saves. Also planning to plant peppers, lettuce, zucchini, onions, gourds, small pumpkins, green beans, and lots of herbs too. I also dream of giving my flower beds over to strawberries.

I just convinced my husband to buy 6 apple trees for my birthday next week!!! I picked the varieties: Macoun, Empire, Jonathan, Snow Apple, Cox Orange Pippin, Northern Spy.

Yay! I'm so excited :)

I just received my seeds yesterday. I may have been overly ambitious seeing as how I haven't worked a garden in 18 years. I ordered okra, green beans, cantelope, watermelon, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, squash, zucchini and I think that's all?
