Bring 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil, stirring continually, until it seems kind of thick (it won’t be as thick as store bought). Allow it to cool and as it cools add 1 teaspoon maple extract and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Store in a pint jar in the refrigerator.

What a great idea! All our maple syrup is imported from Canada and is *very* expensive. I don't think maple extract is available here, though.

Gosh that sounds a lot easier than I thought. I just don't have any maple extract.

Nancy- I found our maple flavoring at Wal Mart. Our local grocer didn't carry it. So I had to wait until I went to Wal Mart (an hours drive) to get it.

Thanks for the recipe. I make my own syrup from time to time. I use the recipe found at hillbillyhousewife.com

It is called apple syrup mad by using apple juice concentrate and sugar.

Thanks for following my blog and for visiting.
